Slender conger
The Slender conger (''Uroconger lepturus'', also known as the Longtail conger or the Yellow pike-conger〔(Common names of Uroconger lepturus ) at www.fishbase.org.〕) is an eel in the family Congridae (conger/garden eels).〔(''Uroconger lepturus'' ) at www.fishbase.org.〕 It was described by John Richardson in 1845, originally under the genus ''Congrus''.〔Richardson, J., 1845 (Oct.) (20575 ) ''Ichthyology.--Part 3. In R. B. Hinds (ed.) The zoology of the voyage of H. M. S. Sulphur, under the command of Captain Sir Edward Belcher, R. N., C. B., F. R. G. London: Smith, Elder & Co. 99-150, Pls. 55-64.〕 It is a marine, tropical eel which is known from the Indo-Western Pacific Ocean, including the Red Sea, South Africa, and Japan. It dwells at a depth range of , and inhabits sand and mud. Males can reach a maximum total length of , but more commonly reach a TL of .〔
